The Brute
Idea:
The Brute woul add a pure tanking element to the game which has yet to be seen. The closest thing already in the game is the warrior, which can be used for damage dealing as well. Though with pure tanking there is very little damage involed so the Brute has very few damaging abilities in his arsenal.
Over-view:
The Brute is a tanking class specializing in Defense and abilities that help them to 1.)absorb damage through the use of Shouts, stances, and enchantments or 2.) have high enough health to take the damage.
They wield a one-handed shield as their weapon, though as a shield it deals very little damage.they also carry extremely durable armour to further increase the amount of damage they can take.
Role:
The Brute can be support or damage dealer depending on usage and skills selected.
Armour Level:
High-90 AL
Energy level:
Low-20 energy with 1 regeneration.
Range Type:
Melee-Shield
Attributes:
Constitution(primary): for each rank in constitution your heath ise increased by 5. for each 3 ranks in constitution you take -2 damage. high ranks in constitution increase effectivness of health increasing abilities.
Courage: increases the effectivness of Shouts, stances, and enchantments involving how the amount of damage you take.
Will Power: increases effectivness of shouts, stances, or enchantments that resist knockdowns or absorb damage.
Blocking: inscreases your effectivness and ability to do damage with shields.
Weapon information:
Shield: 3-10 blunt damage.
Skill Ideas
3a 4r.concentrated defense.the next attack to hit you does 2..24 less damage. Will power.
5a 1/4c 10r. Duck. for the next 5..30 seconds the next attack against you misses and you are knocked down.courage.
10a 2c 60r.Vitallity for the next 15..45 seconds you have +50..300 health.constitution.
2a 3r.Shield Swipe.swing your shield at target foes dealing +5..15 damage.50% chance miss with blocking 4 or lower. blocking.
8a 1c 20r. Brutal strength. for the next 5..15 seconds you have +5..60 armour. Will power.
5e 15r.Self awarness. for the next 2..10 seconds your have a +25..75% chance to block attacks.blocking.
1a 2r.Aggrovation. target foe and all adjacent foes will attack you for 2...7 seconds. Will Power.

Why in the entire world of Guildwars ... would we need another warrior devoted specifically for defense ... a warrior can tank, or they can do damage, or do both. Your idea fails on a huge scale .... k thx bai.

A bit rude, don't you think?
I like the name. Would be a cool nickname lol. Honestly, tanks are usually frowned upon in all levels of play. Usually not something people like to run or to use. Your idea though is well thought out and you even came up with a fairly groovy name.

Tanks aren't needed tbh. As long as you have competent Monks, the team should know how to set itself out on the battlefield.
If you're using heroes, you should practise until you have adequate micro-management abilities. Tanks slow things down, and are to be rather honest, quite outdated.

Let's look at the AI...
- AI sees warrior
- Nothing else in range
- Attacks warrior
- Monk comes in range to heal
- AI goes after monk
- Warrior's tanking skills now USELESS because he can't hold agro
- Fail
Same would apply to the Brute.
I hate warriors already, don't put in another big dumb melee class for me to hate. And the ENTIRE game can be played without heavy armored chars (except when required by missions to have Koss).

Thank you all for your comments.
though we already have a warrior; i feel that when i play mine it doesn't have enough tanking abilities, yes they are good tanks, but i think something that is specifically devoted to tanking would be better suited. i know most of the time people wouldn't want to play as one, but in group pvp, and elite missions, i find tanks to be quite useful.aside from this i have had various ideas about skills to help hold aggro.
sorry for grammatical errors, mostly on capitalization.

I think such large armor could be ezily abused with the right team mates, especialy for PVE farming so, I dunno.

We really don't need another melee profession, let alone a tanking profession. In fact, I think I'd go so far as to say that we don't need ANY new professions..... EVER again. Adding new professions in the first place was a prime example of epic fail. Sure, some of them are really fun, but GW would have done just fine without them, gameplay-wise. Anet would have been much better off adding new weapon choices (2-handed swords/axes, maybe crossbows, etc.) and skills to go with them, like they may have been planning to do in Utopia.

Tanking is fail in GW. And plenty of professions are capable of it already. Elementalists, warriors, assassins, and dervishes are all decent tanks, and they can deal damage!
Pure tank is bad. End of discussion.

You shouldn't need a pure warrior of defense unless you have good monks in your party which is probably your monk heroes or PuG monk [which I doubt].

I'm not opposed to the idea of a tank, but if yours isn't meant to attack, why do all of the skills require adrenaline?

I'd rather have a warrior that can specialize in heavy hitting at a slow rate. Such as a 2-handed sword.

I like the idea, but i really don't see it working. You can't have advanced AI and have a Tank, but if Anet could figure something out I'd like to see it.

you get adrenaline from being hit as well, and you can still attack. his weapon is just low damage.

Pure Tanking in GW = Fail.
It's a decent idea, but really not needed. The only way I could see it working would be if it had skills that get the enemies to attack you, and even then PvP would be a big problem.
